Aris runs on an internal rechargeable battery, so the lamp is not tied to an outlet. It can sit on a desk during the day, move to a bedside at night, and go out to a table on the porch, all without a cord, an extension lead, or a socket dictating where light is allowed to fall.

Touch dimming is built into the body of the lamp. A single surface controls brightness across three color temperatures, so the same fixture handles a warm low glow for evening and a cooler, brighter setting for close work. There is no separate switch, no remote to lose, and no wall dimmer to install.

The housing is light enough to carry in one hand and needs no assembly at all. Out of the box it charges, switches on, and works, which makes it as practical for rented spaces and dorm rooms as it is for a finished study.
